Nice Day For Flying

"Nice Day For Flying" by Debbie Oppermann. I had heard that the pair of Osprey were back at the nest at Wilson's Flats, Grand River, near Elora, Ontario Canada and was not disappointed when I went to check it out. I watched them for quite awhile and in this image the Osprey had left the perch in a dead tree and was soaring over the river looking for food or maybe just enjoying the lovely, bright sunny day. He would hover over an area on the river for a bit then move on to another spot.The Osprey, Pandion haliaetus, is also called a sea hawk, fish eagle, river hawk and fish hawk. It is a very large powerful raptor, bird of prey, whose diet consists mainly of fish and builds the most immense nest made out of mostly branches but also rope, strips of cloth and whatever else it finds.
